Retirement Apartment in Surrey

Our client was moving from London to a recently acquired retirement apartment in Surrey. Our commission was to design, build and project manage the renovation of this rather tired property, originally constructed in the nineteen nineties.

The client’s brief was to incorporate existing furniture into a new design and update the apartment to give it a fresh, contemporary feel. We were also asked to find ways to adapt and add to existing storage space. Our client was clear that they did not want a ‘flowery’ look and asked that we source lighting and accessories with this in mind.

Once the design had been approved, we were ready to go! Old ceilings were stripped back and previously artexed surfaces re-plastered to give a clean, blank canvas with which to work. There was much to do. Existing flooring was removed in parts of the apartment and replaced with new, appropriate floor coverings.

The entire apartment was redecorated and additional shelving added to existing units. The bathroom was removed, redesigned and new units added, including a new shower and bath.

Window treatments included a selection of wooden, painted Venetian blinds, and Roman blinds in the master bedroom. Triple pleated, banded curtains were used in the sitting room and were a feature of the room. Elements of colour from patterned fabrics were used as contrast piping for cushions.
